LAN Search Pro is a free utility for fast file searching across your LAN. You can search for specific file names or for specific file types . LAN Search Pro provides a lightning fast search engine and lets you search hidden network resources, restricted access resources, IP subnets, LAN FTP servers and much more. It comes with a built-in password manager to store your network logins for resources with restricted access.

LAN Search Pro is a file search utility that works across a LAN(Local area network). The application can be used to search for file names or for file types, and it will look all over your home network for those files. The search results can be filtered and files found can be copied, renamed or moved, if you have the necessary permissions.
In my own testing, I was able to find files on another computer on my LAN very quickly. The application found 678 files in under 15 seconds. For each file, the application shows its filename, the location of the file, its size, date and time of creation and attributes. You can sort files by any of the aforementioned categories.
LAN Search Pro automatically searches for files in your entire network, but it can also be configured to look in specific IP ranges, or a single IP address. It can also be set to filter IP addresses or ignore them.
If you right-click on any of the files that you found using this, you can open the folder that contains them. Doing this allows you to find more files in the same directory.
I was gladly surprised with this application. I have experienced so many failures when I tried to use the Explorer's search feature across the LAN, but LAN Search Pro worked out-of-the-box. |
